With great care and attention Elkus Manfredi has been able to meet the owner’s goals of preserving the site’s magnificent grove of existing, mature Live Oak trees and providing office lease space of the highest quality and efficiency. A driveway from the busy intersection of two major streets leads to a quiet landscaped entry court shielded by earth berms and embraced by the grove of oaks.
The office tower, the first building of a two-phase development, overlooks the treetops through floor-to-ceiling glass. The facades of glass and aluminum curtain wall are tailored to respond to their solar orientations. The facades facing south have an expressed grid of aluminum vertical and horizontal ribs, whereas the facades facing north are full glass curtain wall in response to a lower solar heat load. The tower massing is further sculpted to articulate the composition of these planes and forms.
