The crystalline façade of this Class-A office building and broadcast facility is comprised of full height concave insulated glass units. Captured only at the floor slabs, without vertical mullions, the glass has minimal obstructions. A Low-e coating is used to reduce solar heat gain, while the curvature of the glass provides additional strength against wind loads compared with a flat glass assembly. The structure of the building is pushed to the interior to further allow for unobstructed views through the prismatic facade.
The sleek exterior glass exterior contrasts with the warm earth tones of the Bella Rose Onyx stone paneling of the entry lobby. An enlarged entry vestibule allows for a site-specific art installation. The partial-floor penthouse opens up to a terrace through an operable glass wall. The terrace offers panoramic views of the nearby buildings including Duke Ellington Park.
The project will seek LEED certification by the USGBC.
