description
Gyrodata, an oil services firm with three hundred employees based in Houston, Texas, requested a new collaborative environment to foster innovation in manufacturing. The challenge was to create a sophisticated headquarters while being perceived as “young and hip”, to attract a new highly skilled generation to the company. In the LEED silver facility a regional flavor is evoked through drystack rustic stone and sleek wood veneer panels. A large clerestory lighted atrium features attractive cafés on two levels. Meant to be welcoming to all employees, these cafés are where the executives regularly lunch with their staff. Unique team identity zones were created for each department by color-coding finishes, which assisted in way-finding through the large facility. Every area has its own lounge where employees can put their feet up, relax, and engage in creative thinking. An exercise room and a large kitchen area adjacent to an outside barbeque pit support community activity within the new Gyrodata facility.
